Wedding Planning

What comes to mind when you hear the word “wedding”? It depends on to whom you ask. Some would think about a special and expensive event where two people come together and make a commitment in front of their friends and family.

That Nice, Shiny, New

Believe it or not, today’s weddings have an average price tag of over $28,000. For example, a bridal couple may spend $24,836 on average in Kansas and $39,623 in New Jersey. When you think about it, that’s like buying a new car! You wouldn’t purchase a new car that costs $26,000 or more without insuring it, so why wouldn’t you insure your wedding?

Wedding insurance offers customers financial protection if certain unfortunate, unforeseen events were to occur. It provides you with peace of mind should anything go awry. Claims can occur in various ways and for a multitude of reasons. The most common causes of claims include vendor failure, severe weather, deployment, sudden illness or injury, and property damage.

Vendor Failure or Bankruptcy

Whether a wedding is one year away or just one week away, it is nearly impossible to know and track a vendor’s financials. A vendor failure can happen to anyone, even the best, most organized brides or grooms. Imagine the photographer that you’ve booked has gone bankrupt and out of business – leaving you with a lost deposit and no photographer for the wedding! The Wedding Protector Plan can provide coverage for certain cases if the wedding vendors leave the bride and groom empty handed or if a contracted vendor fails to perform the service they were contracted for, which could happen before the wedding day.

Military Deployment

Serving and protecting your country may cause you to have to unexpectedly postpone or cancel your wedding. You will be covered in the event of an unexpected call to duty or if your approved leave were to be revoked at a later date. Either situation could cause the event to be held sooner or later than originally anticipated, or in some cases, completely cancelled – both of which could cause lost funds to the engaged couple and their immediate family.

Illness/Injury

No one can predict when a sudden illness or injury is going to occur. If the wedding couple or key family member became suddenly ill or suffered an injury that would postpone the wedding, our insurance could provide reimbursement for any non-refunded expenses and contracts so that you can spend your big day surrounded by the people you love the most. This has the potential to make the difference between a good day and a great day!

Severe Weather

What do blizzards, tropical storms, hurricanes, and tornados all have in common? Just like vendor failure, they all have the ability to wreak havoc on the best wedding days and plans. In some areas these severe weather conditions just can’t be avoided and in some cases can cause a lot more damage than structural to a building; it can be near impossible to plan a wedding around one of these catastrophic situations. When purchased at least 14 days in advance, the Wedding Protector Plan can provide reimbursement for non-refundable contracted expenses in the unfortunate event that you have to postpone or cancel your wedding due to extreme weather conditions.

Property Damage

Have you ever seen those movies where the wedding guests go totally crazy and end up damaging various things at the wedding venue? It looks like a lot of fun – it looks very carefree, until you see the bill for the damage. A lot of people don’t know that event venues tend to hold clients responsible for any damages that are caused by the guests during the wedding or the reception. Today most venues will require the party to have liability insurance. Say one of the wedding guests accidentally knocks over a center piece rented for the event, the rental company might hold the wedding clients responsible for the accidental damage.

Several unforeseen events could occur while involved in a wedding or while planning the wedding day. Every wedding insurance policy is different – make sure to discuss the event details to make sure the coverage is right for your private event!
